The Seattle Sounders traded their final unused 2026 international spot to Real Salt Lake in exchange for $50,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money. With the MLS roster freeze looming later tonight, that likely closes the door on the Sounders making any last-minute additions.

As it is, they’ll finish the season with Kim Kee-hee occupying the team’s only remaining international spot. The other seven spots were traded for a total of $1.3 million of combined 2026 and 2027 GAM. No other team in MLS has fewer than five players occupying international roster spots. All seven of those spots will return to the Sounders for the 2027 season.

Based on Sounder at Heart’s estimations, the Sounders should have close to $3.5 million of unused GAM that can be rolled into 2027. Combined with the GAM that was already scheduled to be available to them next year, the Sounders should have a positive GAM balance of at least $5 million heading into 2027 and perhaps as much as $8.8 million.
