The Seattle Sounders can move into the No. 7 spots in the Western Conference if they can beat Sporting KC tonight. In the last few weeks, the Sounders have moved up from 14th place to now occupy a playoff spot.

Sporting KC, though, pose a considerably more formidable challenge than they looked like they would a few weeks ago. Since the addition of Designated Player André Luiz, Sporting KC have gone 2–1–2 and scored 11 goals in their past four games. André has four goals and an assist.

The Sounders will be a bit short-handed today, with Dejan Joveljić and Snyder Brunell out on international duty and Hassani Dotson on a yellow-card suspension.

Notes

Brian Schmetzer won his 150th career regular-season match, making him just the ninth coach in MLS history to reach that milestone.
Jordan Morris scored his 73rd regular-season goal, making him the Sounders’ all-time leader.
Morris has nine career goals against Sporting KC, the most of any active player.
Albert Rusnák got his 50th career Sounders assist on Saturday, the fourth player in club history to reach that milestone.
