SEATTLE — Coming out of a 2024 that was a breakout campaign, the big question surrounding Paul Rothrock was whether he could maintain that level over a full season.
This year, he seems to have mostly answered that question. Although Rothrock hasn’t quite maintained the rate-stats he posted last year, he has provided a level of consistency that has kept him in the Seattle Sounders starting lineup. The 26-year-old has appeared in a team-high 44 of 46 games across all competitions and started 33, which includes 27 starts in league play.
Rothrock’s game-winning goal against Real Salt Lake on Saturday was his fifth across all competitions. When combined with his eight assists, he has now equaled his 2024 all-competition goal-contributions total of 13, albeit in about 650 more first-team minutes.
