Seattle Reign defender Jordyn Bugg is one of 11 finalists for FIFA's 2025 Marta Award, which honors the most exceptional goals scored in women’s soccer worldwide between August 11, 2024, and August 2, 2025.
She joins Sounders forward Pedro de la Vega, who was nominated for the men's version of the award, the Puskás.
Bugg's goal — deemed a "Bugg Bomb" by Reign fans — was a stunning blast from more than 30 yards out that marked the 19-year-old defender's first professional goal. It put the Reign up 2-0 on the road and would go on to become the game-winning goal in the Reign's 2-1 win over the North Carolina Courage on March 22.
Players confirmed after the match that they weren't surprised to see Bugg unleash a rocket from distance. She apparently does it all the time in training.
Bugg went on to score three goals in the 2025 season, her first full season with the Reign. Her performances on both ends of the field earned the centerback her first U.S. Women's National Team call-up and caps, and Bugg was one of five players nominated as NWSL Defender of the Year for the 2025 season.
