The Seattle Sounders fell 1–0 to the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday, a match they had entered describing as a "must-win." Although the Sounders piled up nearly 2.0 xG, much of that came in the match's waning moments while the Dyanmo put 11 players behind the ball. It was the Dyamo's first-ever win at Lumen Field since the Sounders entered MLS in 2009.
At the end of the day, they found themselves eighth in the Western Conference and just two points clear of the playoff line.
