The Seattle Sounders suffered another ignominious defeat to a Cascadia Cup opponent on Sunday, this time falling 5–1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps. They had lost 5–1 to the Portland Timbers earlier this year, too, and finish with zero points in Cascadia Cup competition. Even worse, the loss coupled with the Portland Timbers’ win later in the day knocked them out of a playoff spot and means they’ll enter the final match of the season without control of their destiny.
