Fresh off his first-ever MLS Best XI award, Cristian Roldan has been called into the United States national team for a pair of friendlies against Paraguay (Nov. 9) and Uruguay (Nov. 18). Players will report to camp on Sunday.
This is the third consecutive USMNT training camp to which Roldan has been called. He has played in all four matches during those camps and started two of them, including a starring performance against Australia on Oct. 14 in which he had two assists to lead the way to a 2-1 win.
Roldan has earned high praise from USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino during this stretch and seems to have moved himself into strong position to earn a spot on the 2026 World Cup team.
“As we continue to develop our squad and build on the culture we have created, this is another great opportunity for the players selected for this roster to prove they deserve to be on the final list for the World Cup,” Pochettino said in a statement issued by the federation. “It's important that they come into this camp prepared to show their qualities on the field and their commitment to being a good teammate. We will keep working on the competitive details in training and have the opportunity to challenge ourselves against two high quality opponents from South America.”
