Seattle Reign play at home for the first time since May 15, following a league hiatus for the men’s World Cup and a road trip to North Carolina last weekend.
The Reign had a tough go against the Courage, gaining an early lead with Sally Menti’s first goal of the season but conceding three minutes later to keep things level. A second-half penalty turned the tide completely in North Carolina’s favor, resulting in a 1-3 loss for Seattle.
The Thorns made a statement in their return to league play last Sunday, shutting out Racing Louisville 4-0.
Seattle is 16-18-10 all-time against Portland, and 9-6-6 at home. Their last win in the series was a 1-0 victory on April 18, 2025, with the lone goal scored in the 4th minute by Maddie Dahlien.
Reign will be looking to improve on their result from the most recent Cascadia Clash in Week 2, which Portland won 2-0 despite losing two players to red cards throughout.

Keys to the game
- Prevent chances for Sophia Wilson
- Be ruthless in the box. Reign tallied a staggering 49 crosses and 17 shots in their last match against Portland. The Thorns aced the test of Seattle’s high-volume tactics, but small adjustments could break through the dam and change the story.
- Lock down the midfield machine and be clinical on set piece defense
Notes
- Portland announced the signing of Dutch midfielder Nina Nijstad from PSV Eindhoven Vrouwen. Nijstad is a product of the Dutch Youth National Team system and has four caps and two goals for the Senior National Team. The summer transfer window does not officially open until Tuesday, July 14, and Nijstad will not be available for selection on Sunday.
- The Thorns transferred forward Mimi Alidou to the Montreal Roses of the Northern Super League for an undisclosed fee. A Montreal native, Alidou joined the Thorns in 2025 and made 32 appearances for them.
- The match is on track to be the fourth-highest attended in club history at Lumen Field.
- Shae Holmes and Claudia Dickey are still unavailable due to injury, though both have been working back into training and are day-to-day. Madison Curry is also unavailable due to an ankle injury.
- We may see Jess Fishlock return to the pitch for the first time since April 26th, when she suffered a left leg injury against the Utah Royals. Head coach Laura Harvey said Saturday morning that a decision on Fishlock’s availability would be made after Saturday’s training. Fishlock is listed as a substitute and will be available for selection.
