Negotiations between the Seattle Sounders and FC Feyenoord for the services of Danish striker Casper Tengstedt are ongoing, Sounder at Heart has learned.
Although Feyenoord are keen to move the 26-year-old, the two sides are apparently still a ways apart on a fee. The Sounders are hoping to acquire Tengstedt without making him a Designated Player, for which they currently don’t have an opening. Feyenoord is hoping to recoup a significant chunk of the €6 million they paid Benfica a year ago.
There are two main ways the Sounders could accomplish this. One is that they could initially acquire Tengstedt on a loan. If they were able to structure this as a one-year loan, that would delay a permanent decision until the start of the 2027–28 season, at which point players like Tengstedt may no longer occupy DP spots. Alternatively, the Sounders could try to get Tengstedt’s transfer fee closer to $3M, which combined with a roughly $1M salary could potentially keep him within the TAM threshold.
The Sounders have until Sept. 2 ,when the transfer window closes, to get a deal across the line.
