The Seattle Sounders return home from a two-game road trip to face last-place CF Montreal. Although the Sounders saw their nine-game unbeaten streak halted with Wednesday's 1–0 loss to FC Dallas, they have moved into seventh place in the Western Conference.
Montreal, meanwhile, are just two points ahead of Sporting KC in the Wooden Spoon race. They have only two road wins this year and have gone just 1–9–1 in their last 11 games away from Montreal.
To further stack the deck, Montreal is missing leading scoring Prince Owusu, whose 15 goals and six assists account for nearly two-thirds of their goal production this year.
For all that, Montreal has a chance to actually win a trophy this year as they’ll play in the Canadian Championship on Wednesday. Some early goals could force them to turn their attention.
Notes
- This is just the Sounders’ 11th meeting with CF Montreal since they entered the league in 2012, with a record of just 3–6–1. The Sounders won the previous meeting 5–0 in 2024.
- The Sounders have four more regular-season games remaining after this one, two at home and two on the road.
